Explaining the
28-DAY SOUL COACHING PROGRAM… This is a powerful 28-day journey of cleansing, connection, inspiration, and transformation. Think of it as "detox" for your mind, body, spirit, and heart designed to balance, align, and invigorate your life. The 28-Day Soul Coaching Program is divided into four one-week periods with each week dedicated to one of the four elements and the four corresponding aspects of self: Days 1-7 – we use the element of Air to work with our Intellectual Self – clearing mental and physical clutter, assessing where you are versus where you want to be, empowering actions, aligning your life with your core values, exploring your soul mission Days 8-14 – we use the properties of Water to explore our Emotional Self – deep cathartic work to release victim-thinking, exploring energy levels, assessing relationships, reframing life experiences, being in gratitude Days 15-21 - with the element of Fire we work with our Spiritual Self – taking action, facing our "shadow self", awakening your creative spirit, being present, being in abundance
Days 22-28 – using the element of Earth, we work with our Physical Self – connecting with your body, physical "detox", awakening the natural forces within you, creating sacred spaces For each of the 28-day days there are practical, fun, and transformative exercises that are divided into three levels that you can choose from according to your time availability each day:
• Level 1: usually requires 15-30 minutes of your day
• Level 2: usually takes 30 to 60 minutes of your day.
• Level 3: takes as long as it takes! The 28-day Soul Coaching program will help you to de-clutter your life, connect to your intuitive self, release blockages that are keeping you stuck, identify your purpose, empower your actions, reduce stress and anxiety, align your outer life with your inner authentic self, and increase the energy, harmony, confidence, clarity, and joy in your
daily life. The
28-Day Program was created by Denise Linn — my most
esteemed and cherished teacher! |

I was laughing wryly today at the sweet
appropriateness of me choosing joy as the theme for
this month’s Inspire-Letter… About a week ago I remember
thinking, 'Of course, Joy
would be a perfect theme for this holiday Inpire-Letter!' I
then proceeded to spend the entire week avoiding writing
about it. It seems that I subconsciously chose a
theme to talk about that I have been struggling with myself.
I think I'm regularly a pretty joyful
girl, but you see, it’s been a tough few months… I
watched a best friend pass from the world due to cancer, my
romantic partnership of three and half years sadly ended,
and daily life has had me juggling a lot of pressing
challenges. Luckily,
my Soul Coaching brings me instantly into a place of such
lovely spirit and peace, but to my dismay I suddenly
recognized that in the other parts of my life overwhelming busy-ness and underlying sorrow had really
squeezed joy (one of my most cherished values!) out of the
equation lately... I’ve always loved the joy and
brightness of the holiday season, yet this year I've been
avoiding Christmas merriment like the Swine Flu! I usually totally enjoy getting a great big tree and turning
my place into a festive wonderland, yet this year I’ve
found myself rationalizing my way out of getting a tree (too
busy, I’m not going to be here over Christmas, etc.). I
now realize what it really comes down to is that I'm avoiding
these things because it hurts to be reminded of the
joy I’m not feeling.
So, it was at this juncture I stood this week: My
all-or-nothing pattern telling me if I can’t fully step
into enthused joy, then I should just shelve my joy
completely for now. Thankfully, the Soul Coach in me has
stepped up just in the St. Nick of time…
I tell my coachees time after time: "Don’t
put off your happiness!!"
Postponing joy or celebration until we
have the time, the money, the space, the loving partner, the
right job, the perfect body, etc. is an epidemic in
our society. And
the tragedy of this thinking is that joy is like a muscle
that must be exercised regularly for it to expand and be
strong...so if we’re not cultivating joy through the
challenging times in our lives, we lose the ability to
summon joy even in the most beautiful and abundant of
scenarios! Wow…not
only is this a recipe for a joyless life, but a
joyless/disconnected/low vibration world! (and we’ve seen
where that world has been taking us lately)
So, the Soul Coach in me argues that
joy shouldn’t just be the "icing" on life…it
needs to be a priority.
Of course the floundering human in me gets
that in times of sorrow or deadlines or fatigue, cultivating
joy can feel so overwhelming and HARD! That is why today I'm inviting all of us into a place of quiet
joy. This
is not a place of fireworks, disco balls, and raucous
merriment. This
is a place where we gently introduce joy into the little
crevices of our pain to soothe and warm us.
It’s place where we commit to doing something each
day that we love (and not because it’s "good for us"
or a duty). It’s
a place where we allow space to become present enough for
joy to sneak up on us in the little things.
It’s a place where we make joy manageable by
scattering bite-sized pieces throughout our daily
"routine".
My cats are indoor/balcony cats, but my
fat cat Karma loves when I take her out into the busy front
yard for a little play — it brings her so much joy.
Since it’s gotten cold, she’s just put one paw
out the door and upon feeling the violent wind instantly scampered back in, only to then look longinglyout through the
glass pane. Until the
other day that suited me just fine – really I’d rather not be
turning blue hanging outside with my cat in the freezing
cold. That day
though, when she ran to the door enthusiastically and then
turned back defeated from the cold, I realized sadly that
the discomfort and overwhelm of the winter was chasing her
from the expansiveness of her joy. Then I thought, 'No! You
can’t abandon your joy! We’ll just have to make it
manageable for you...' (ok, so actually I said this out
loud but I didn’t want you to think of me as the
"crazy cat lady" ; )
Anyway, I coaxed her out, leaving the door safely
open for her, and then led the way to her favourite patch of
grass in the snow and stayed there with her while she
happily munched on it.
We didn’t stay out for long, but I've decided that
we will keep going out through the winter so that when
summer comes and the conditions are perfect to be outside,
she won’t have grown too fat and complacent to go out –
that joy muscle will be well-flexed.
As for me, through the pressing winds of my last few days,
I've made a point of starting to coax myself out into a little joy
as well — doing some drumming, a silly laughter-filled conference call with my family in Manitoba,
a hot bath under moonlight streaming through my window, a Sunday adventure with an inspiring friend, a one-person dance party, and baking
decadent vegan cupcakes. AND I’ve decided to say to hell
with all my rationalizations for not getting a Christmas
tree, and go find myself a manageable little Charlie Brown
tree and decorate it with quiet joy. And who knows? Maybe
by New Year’s, I’ll be ready for that
raucous-fireworks-disco ball BIG JOY that grows out of
quiet joy.
Wishing YOU a holiday filled with true
joy...whether that joy be BIG or quiet!
Love,
Kimberly

INSPIRE AND ACTION CORNER:

MOVIES, BOOKS, SONGS |

Elf
- you might think of this as just some fluffy
family holiday movie...and it is. However, I get
giddy from the pure unadulterated joy of this
human-raised- as-elf
character that Will Ferrell plays. We could all
learn a huge lesson from Buddy about being in the
moment and being open to the flow of joy. Plus
Will Ferrell makes me bloody howl! Watch

Eat
Mangos Naked - SARK's books are like a magical
joy trigger! With her most fun illustrations and rich
words, picking one up for a couple of minutes is
enough to instantly shift me into a more joyful and
playful state. This one is especially about
cultivating pleasure and joy,"no matter what else
is happening in our lives". "Fireflies"
- you might have been hearing this song from
the group Owl City on the radio lately. I just
think it's such a "quiet joy" type of tune
that I've really been enjoying lately. Click

ENERGY WORK
The Joy Exercise - Today, no matter what is
happening or what activities you're doing in your day,
figure out a way to give it a little twist of joy.
With every activity you do, just keep asking:
"How can I experience even more joy right
now?"
So if you've got mountainous loads of
laundry, you might put on some fun music and ROCK OUT
while you're sorting your colours. If you're stuck in
a really boring meeting with colleagues, propose a
laugh break where you go around the table and
everybody has to tell a stupid joke. Pay a surprise
visit to a friend and come bearing cupcakes (or beer).
If you've got to work all evening at your computer, do
it with a cuddly, purring cat on your lap. If you and
your hubby or wife are having a tense moment
discussing an issue, stop suddenly and start tickling
her/him (I'm not guaranteeing it will "fix"
everything, but it will definitely shift the energy ; ). At every
turn today, consider how you can dial up your joy-meter a notch!

5 QUIET JOYS:
- A big 'ole mug of hot chocolate (spike said hot chocolate for less
of a quiet joy)
- Cuddling cats in a sunbeam
- Having a Gratitude Journal

- Truly feeling and being present for an unrushed great big hug
A
JOYFUL RECOMMENDATION FROM KIMBERLY: One
thing that brings me joy on a regular basis is picking a
card from my friend Barbara Burke's glorious "I Am
Divine" card deck. In both words and images, this
deck and it's accompanying guide book beams with
wisdom, beauty, and love. It's a fabulous daily tool for
helping set intentions, tune into your intuition, and have a
little "play" time! A perfect Christmas gift
